Alvor
is situated on a hillside between Portimão and Lagos, and is blessed with a beautiful
protected harbour on the estuary of the Ria Alvor.
Most people still regard
the town of Alvor to be a quaint fishing village, but a closer look reveals a
very lively night life, with many bars (Irish bars being in abundance), fantastic
restaurants, and great Apartments.
Down by the quay where Trigana is based
you can find some of the best Fresh Fish Restaurants in the Algarve.
Boasting
around 200 restaurants and bars, Alvor has possibly the highest concentration
of eateries in the Algarve.
In Alvor, you can find anything from grilled sardines
to chicken piri-piri, beautifully grilled fresh fish and lots of other traditional
Portuguese specialties, or for a change you can sample some Chinese or Indian
food, lots to choose from!
Drinking in Alvor can be a little more difficult,
the choice of places to drink is mind blowing! Not only the restaurants and snack
bars, but each bar seems more inviting than the last and as they are never any
more than a few paces apart, perhaps I should say getting home is difficult, but
don't worry lot's of the bars are open till 4am and you can always rest when you
get home!!!
If you want to relax, there's no better way than to grab
your towel and suntan lotion, and head of to the Beach. The main beach (Praia
da Alvor) is almost 3 miles long and you can be guaranteed a space even in the
height of the high season.
